The number of Pennsylvania workplace fatalities shrunk in 2011 compared to 2010. In 2011, a reported 186 people lost their lives in workplace accidents in Pennsylvania, while 200 employees died in 2010. The 186 people who lost their lives in 2011 are still too many, but the decline in workplace fatalities is welcome news.
When we last discussed the types of insurance your business needs, worker’s compensation was one of the main types of insurance we listed. Worker’s comp is required by Pennsylvania for businesses with a certain number of employees according to state law. Compliance is mandatory, and a business may be heavily fined and penalized for failing to carry adequate workers comp insurance.
